Hire Agreement

Terms and Conditions

By entering into the Agreement of Hire, I (the customer) agree to the following:

1. I (the customer) understand that Once Upon a Handbag is a rental boutique, and I may only rent a bag for a pre-selected period of time before returning it to Once Upon a Handbag. 

    2. I am not purchasing a bag to keep indefinitely.

    3. I understand that the booking will not be complete until payment and ID are provided after the handbag is selected online. ID and payment will be requested via email through a third-party, Fraud Judge, after the online hire process has finished. I agree to send Fraud Judge a valid photo of my driver's license as the form of ID and consent to process of selfie photos the ID process will require through the link provided to me.

    4. I understand that Once Upon a Handbag will process the return of my Refundable Bond ($100) when my hired bag is returned on time and in the same condition as it was lent to me. The bond may take up to 10 business days as per Shopify and the customer's bank. The returned bond amount may be reduced if there is damage or if the bag is posted later than the due date.  

    5. I agree to return the bag by the agreed upon date (selected before checkout) by 12pm or be subject to late fees, up to, but not exceeding the retail value of the item itself. Failure to return an item on the due date will result in late fees. Once Upon a Handbag will charge me $50.00 per day the item is late to return.

    6. A return satchel is included with the initial delivery of my bag; this bag is to be used for returning the hired bag and should be lodged over the counter at an Australia Post Office by 12pm.

    7. I understand that courier deliveries require a signature and may only be signed for by me, the customer, not another person. Deliveries will be made to the address supplied by me upon checkout. This address must match the address on my driver's license.

    8. Articles that are lost or damaged while in my possession will be charged the retail replacement cost, as advised by Once Upon a Handbag.

    9. Once Upon a Handbag uses a professional company for cleaning and maintaining excellent condition of our handbags. Bags are strictly NOT to be cleaned by the customer - they are to be sent back to Once Upon a Handbag for a professional clean. The cost of this is covered in the rental at no additional fee.

    10. Damage is considered to have occurred by:

    • Denim stains
    • Stickiness 
    • Scratching, tearing, or cutting
    • Make-up stains or marks
    • Ink Marks
    • Food or Drink Marks
    • Any other stains or marks, or any alteration to the appearance of the bag

    11. I have read and agreed to Once Upon a Handbag’s Refund and Cancellation Policy.

    12. I understand that all rentals are final – there are no refunds on rentals. Once Upon a Handbag does not accept returns for change of mind, event cancelations or if the handbag does not suit. For example, if the bag does not fit all my essentials, the hire cost will not be refunded. It is my (the customer’s) responsibility to compare the bag dimensions to my items.

    13. Though there are no refunds, Once Upon a Handbag does offer a credit note valid for 12 months from the date which cancellation is advised and will work with me (the customer) to reschedule my new hire.

    14. I understand that the hire period starts from the time the courier attempted first delivery and credits will not be issued for late delivery where I have not been available to accept delivery.

    15. Any photos I provide to Once Upon a Handbag by way tagging or sharing may be used by Once Upon a Handbag for social media or website content. 

    16. I am at least 18 years of age, or if under the age of 18 I have a consenting adult with a valid credit card. The consenting adult may sign for the courier if their name was on the credit card used to make the purchase.

    17. By accepting these Terms and Conditions, I authorise for my details to be kept on file for any further communication or charges. These charges may include fees if any of the above considerations apply.

    18. By placing an order with Once Upon a Handbag I am agreeing to the above Hiring Terms and Conditions.
